FAQs

We know starting therapy can be overwhelming. We've shared some of our most frequently asked questions to help answer all of your questions.

In order to make the most of our time together, please ensure that you have completed all required forms for your specific clinician. You can find those in the Client Portal.

The first session (known as the initial intake) is typically 90 minutes. All subsequent sessions are 45 minutes. Times may vary based on clinician.

This depends on the clinician. A 90-minute intake with Dr. Pedersen is $390.00 for a 90-minute intake and $235.00 for all 45-minute sessions therefore after. The fees with one of our other Psychologists, the 90 minute intake is $375.00 and $225.00 for all subsequent sessions. With one of our Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, the 90-minute intake is $300.00 and $175.00 for all 45-minute sessions after that.

We do not accept insurance. However, many PPO insurance plans offer a portion of reimbursements for mental health therapy. We will provide you with a superbill to submit to your insurance at the end of each month.

In order to find out if you are eligible for insurance reimbursement:

  1. Call your insurance company.  The member services number should be listed on the back of your insurance card.
  2. Find out if you have out-of-network benefits and what your financial responsibility would be.  Some questions to ask the member services representative:
    • "Does my plan include out-of-network mental health services?"
    • "Do I have a deductible for out-of-network mental health services and what is the amount I would have to pay before my health plan starts to reimburse me?"
    • "What is the maximum amount my plan will reimburse me for mental health service code ______________?"  If the rep does not give you a clear answer, you can ask:
    • "What is the maximum allowed amount for mental health service code ______________, and what percentage of the maximum allowed amount will my plan pay?"  (The reimbursement you would receive is the percentage of the maximum amount allowed.)
  • Some common service codes for mental health services are listed below, but therapists may use other billing codes depending on services provided.
    • 90791 Psychiatric diagnostic evaluation
    • 90834 Psychotherapy
    • 90846 Family therapy without patient present
    • 90847 Family therapy with patient present

Typically we work with both the child and caregiver. Sometimes the child (age-depending) may spend more one-on-one time with the therapist. If your child is in session individually, the caregiver is expected to remain on site.

Our job is to help you find a therapist who can help you best, and sometimes that isn't us. If you decide that is the case, we will provide referrals and help you find someone who is better suited for you and your child's needs.

There is no magic formula and change will not happen overnight. Therapy is a slow process and we know how incredibly frustrating that can be. Our clinicians are committed to guiding you throughout the entire process. It's important to remember that the small changes, accumulated over time with care and patience, constitute the big change.
